Observing Sweden – Driver’s License Progress

Driver Fixed A
Had my first driving lesson last week. $100
Attended Drug Alcohol class today. $120
Am now allowed to drive if a licensed driver is in the car with me and I have the sign you see in the back window of our car, as shown in photo.
Next comes another driving practice on some kind of slippery track that simulates icy roads.
Then the driving qualification test (another fee).
And then another – theory – test on computer (another fee).

The theory questions are still driving me nuts.
Example:

Question: What is true about this sign?

Nuts B

Nuts CIf I survive all this I will get a probationary license that lasts for 2 years

The mind boggles.

Nice to see you, Bruce. Am I to understand that you can’t just show your license from another country and get one that works there? Or were you caught doing something ‘terrible’, and they took it away from you?

Wow! Talk about splitting hairs. It is obvious to me that I don’t want to live in Sweden. The U.S. is not that bad yet but is lunging in that same direction at warp speed.

  3. You continue to amaze. Keep hanging in there. You are going to get been a Swede yet!
I’ll catch up with all your other great posts soon. I hope.

Time passes so quickly. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been two and a half years since your move. I’ve followed your blog since a few months before you left and have enjoyed your observations of Sweden.

  5. All your questions seem to be trick questions… I count my lucky stars I drive in an anglo- saxon country !!!!

The real question is are Swedish drivers as crazy as Russian drivers? I dread thinking about driving in Russia, they are all crazy here. When the time comes they will call me “White Knuckles” for sure.
